Volunteering
Volunteering at the Greek Council for Refugees is not a simple theory, however is the basis of the whole building and its services. Among the members of the Board who are volunteers, to teachers-schoolteachers who implement all educational activities of the Intercultural Center for the Promotion of Refugee Integration PYXIDA, the lawyers of the Panhellenic Network of Volunteer Lawyers who are the eyes and ears of the Central Legal Service GCR throughout Greece, as well as dozens of volunteers who assist in the daily and extraordinary activities of the GCR.
The role and contribution of volunteers in the work of GCR is crucial, therefore the enhancement of a key target. It is clear that without the valuable charitable assistance would be impossible to continue our work, since the cost of these services would exceed the capabilities of our association. In view of the success of their mission, volunteers are trained on key issues concerning the refugee population, needs and capacities in order to respond effectively to the demands of their work.
Also, volunteers offer themselves refugees: operating in a network of mutual aid, the refugees in the country longer volunteer help newcomers, for example in interpreting, accompanying them to services etc. The support of volunteers not only contributes to fulfilling the objectives of different activities but also helps both to inform and raise awareness of the humanitarian community on the need to protect refugees.
The volunteer opportunities at GCR are many and varied. Since legal aid to the translation of texts from the support of events to find funds and awareness to carry objects which offer citizens the GCR and so fails to carry.
