Aims:

Provision of free legal aid during the administrative appeal before the Appeals’ Committees in Athens, Thessaloniki, Rhodes and Evros.

Activities:
  • Provision of legal aid with the aim to cover fully the needs during the administrative appeal before the Appeals Committees
  • Depending on the availability of the lawyers of the Programme due to limited demand at appeal stage, legal aid may also be provided during the stage of registration and examination of the application of international protection before the Asylum Service at 1st instance in cases of unaccompanied children, and in cases of family reunification in accordance with the Dublin Regulation 604/2013/EU (“Dublin III”).
  • If further availability exists, free legal aid may be provided, with order of priority, to cases of maintaining family unity, outside the framework of Dublin Regulation, vulnerable individuals, other than unaccompanied children, detention of asylum seekers as well as cases concerning relevant administrative decisions regarding administrative treatment of the above mentioned categories of asylum seekers (vulnerable individuals, UASC, etc) before administrative and judicial authorities.
  • GCR may also challenge negative decision of the Appeals’ Committees before the judicial authorities.
Results: Securing of the asylum seekers’ right to benefit from the provision of free legal aid.
