IDENTIFYING AND PROMOTING GOOD PRACTICES FOR UNACCOMPANIED MINORS IN THE EU ASYLUM LEGISLATION
Purpose of the project is to identify and analyze the beneficial provisions of the EU Asylum Legislation and to
identify and promote best practices referring to the [practical implementation of the EU Asylum Legislations as
regards to UAMs. Hence, the project does not aim to detect lack of protection provisions, but to bridge the so
called implementation gap when it comes to UAMs. It is a common ground that the majority of the EU Asylum
Legislation includes beneficial provisions for UAMs (i.e). In the same token the lacuna is detected in the field of
practice and implementation. Hence, the task of the proposed project consists of 4 pillars:
- Analysis of the beneficial legal provisions for UAMs in the existing/ in force EU Asylum Legislation.
- Research and identification of best and worst examples of the practical implementation of the EU Asylum legislation with regard to UAMs. Highlight individual cases on how well or bad it works for minors.
- Promotion of positive legislation and practices among EU Member States included in the project, in order to show that the UAMs could benefit from it but also that the EU Asylum Law is not inhuman.
- Identification and promotion of best asylum systems for UAMs based on the goal of achieving the long term integration or re-integration as a result of the asylum procedures.
