Mariana Fragkou is the Coordinator of the Programs, Communications and Fundraising Department.

She became involved with the refugee issue in 2015, through the Scouts (#gineproskopos), where she led a series of volunteer activities to relieve the refugees and the local communities that had initially welcomed them in the country.

She worked in GCR at first as Volunteer Coordinator, then as a Project Manager and for the past 6 years as a Coordinator. Professionally, she comes from the field of event productions and advertising.

She has studied communications and political sciences in Greece and the UK.

Through her current work as well as her previous placements, she has gained experience and contributed to solving different managerial challenges, from planning and implementing organizational changes to setting short and long-term goals and systems to track the progress of people and projects.

She is passionate about her work, grateful to be able to serve the GCR as part of a very dynamic team (#teamGCR), and especially proud of the services the organization provides to refugees and asylum seekers.

The employability office at the Greek Council for Refugees has been offering its services since 2000 and has supported hundreds of newly arrived and recognised refugees in their transition to the labour market and to securing a paid job. With the support of World Jewish Relief and refashioned as Cosmos Employment Hub – STEP Greece, this service was considerably upgraded in August 2018 with the transfer of know-how and expertise from the United Kingdom.

This project offers various services, including information, skills development and enrollment to vocational training. Our employment councellors also provide job placement services to our project beneficiaries.

Ξεκίνησαν στις 17 Ιανουαρίου και συνεχίζονται ως τα τέλη Φεβρουαρίου τα σεμινάρια κινηματογράφου που διεξάγει το Ελληνικό Συμβούλιο για τους Πρόσφυγες (ΕΣΠ) στο Διαπολιτισμικό Κέντρο «Πυξίδα».

Τα σεμινάρια υλοποιούνται στο πλαίσιο του ευρωπαϊκού έργου RefugeesIN, το οποίο στοχεύει στην ενθάρρυνση του διαπολιτισμικού διαλόγου, στην καταπολέμηση των διακρίσεων κατά των προσφύγων και στην προώθηση της κοινωνικής τους ένταξης. Το RefugeesIN -Cinema for Refugees Social Inclusion πραγματοποιείται με συγχρηματοδότηση από το πρόγραμμα Erasmus+ της European Commission.

Οι συμμετέχοντες συζητούν για κρίσιμα ζητήματα σχετικά με την ένταξη των προσφύγων και, μέσα από προβολές ταινιών, ανάλυση και αφήγηση ιστοριών, ανακαλύπτουν τη δυναμική του κινηματογράφου και τη χρησιμότητά του ως μέσο κοινωνικής ένταξης.

Μαθαίνουν τα βασικά στάδια δημιουργίας μιας ταινίας και προετοιμάζονται για τα γυρίσματα του πρώτου τους ντοκιμαντέρ που θα ξεκινήσουν σύντομα!

Το Σάββατο, 24/02/2018, οι μαθητές της "Πυξίδας" είχαν την ευκαιρία να παρακολουθήσουν από κοντά τον αγώνα ποδοσφαίρου Πανιώνιος-Αστέρας Τρίπολης! Όλοι μαζί διασκεδάσαμε και ενημερωθήκαμε για το ελληνικό πρωτάθλημα, ενώ ανυπομονούμε για τον επόμενο αγώνα!

Χθες το απόγευμα στην «Πυξίδα» είχαμε επισκέψεις…
Πέρασαν από εδώ ο Πινόκιο, ο μαστρό-Τζεπέτο, η γαλάζια νεράιδα, ο γάτος και η αλεπού. Για μία ώρα τα παιδιά ταξίδεψαν νοητά μέχρι την Παιχνιδούπολη, περιπλανήθηκαν μέσα στην κοιλιά μιας φάλαινας, γνώρισαν πολλούς και διαφορετικούς χαρακτήρες, ενώ οι γονείς τους ξανάγιναν για λίγο παιδιά…
Το Θέατρο του Νέου Κόσμου, μέσα από την δράση του «Θέατρο Αλληλεγγύης για παιδιά», μας συντρόφευσε με ένα παιδικό παραμύθι χωρίς σύνορα, αλλά με πολλά νοήματα.
Ευχαριστούμε πολύ τους ηθοποιούς και συντελεστές και ανανεώνουμε το ραντεβού μας, όπως κάθε χρόνο!!

Για δύο συνεχή Σαββατοκύριακα, 9-11 και 16-18 Μαρτίου 2018, στο διαπολιτισμικό κέντρο "Πυξίδα" έλαβαν χώρα σεμινάρια που αφορούσαν την επιμόρφωση εκπαιδευτών σχετικά με τα ελληνικά ως ξένη γλώσσα. Οι εθελοντές καθηγητές μας, που έλαβαν μέρος, είχαν την ευκαιρία όχι μόνο να έρθουν σε επαφή με πολλά ζητήματα που αφορούν τη διδασκαλία των ελληνικών ως ξένης γλώσσας, αλλά και να ανταλλάξουν απόψεις και προβληματισμούς. Ευχαριστούμε πολύ την Ιφιγένεια Γεωργιάδου και το Hellenic Culture Centre (Κέντρο Ελληνικού Πολιτισμού) για αυτή τη γενναιόδωρη προσφορά.
