Description of our classes/activities

PYXIDA Greek Language courses are divided into levels of language proficiency (AO, A1, A2, B1, B2) in accordance with the language skills level as defined by the Council of Europe. Enrolment to our courses is based on initial language and educational assessment of each student.

Beginners Greek language for Adolescents (AO)

This course targets recently arrived young adolescents (15-18 years old) who do not speak the Greek language and have yet to enroll in the Greek public schools. The major goal is to offer an introduction to the Greek language to prepare their transition to Greek mainstream schools and build their confidence through recreational and educational activities.

Beginners Greek Language for Children (AO)

This course is designed for recently arrived children (6-14 years old) who do not speak the Greek language and have yet to attend public school. The course introduces the teaching of the Greek alphabet, basic daily vocabulary and Greek grammar.

Beginners Greek for Adults (AO)

This course suits adult learners who want to learn the Greek alphabet, master basic daily conversation and have an introduction to basic Greek Grammar.

Beginners Greek for Women (AO)

This course is designed for women only, and it’s an introduction to the Greek language for those who have no previous knowledge of it. Students start with learning the Greek alphabet, master basic conversation, and study the basics of the Greek Grammar.

Intermediate Greek (A1)

This course is for adult learners, who are familiar with the Greek alphabet and basic vocabulary. The course focuses on Greek daily vocabulary and correct use of grammar (present tenses, articles, nominative-accusative, adjectives, adverbs).

Intermediate Greek for Women (A1)

This course is designed and is addressed only to women who have some familiarity with the Greek alphabet, vocabulary and grammar and wish to advance their language skills.

Intermediate Greek for Adults (A2)

This course follows from the A1 level, with further Greek vocabulary and grammar development as well as practice of Greek reading and writing skills.

Intermediate Greek for Youth (A2)

This course is also a continuation of the A1 level for young adults with an educational prior learning and schooling in their country of origin. Students selected need to enroll in a university in Greece or to find a job relevant with their previous studies.

Advanced Greek for Adults (B1 & B2)

This course targets adult learners with basic knowledge of the Greek language, who are looking to progress and use Greek not only for everyday communication but also within a professional and educational context.

School Tutors Club

This program aims to assist recently arrived refugee children of all ages, who speak the Greek language and are attending Greek public schools. Children receive language tutoring and help with doing their homework and class assignments with particular school subjects. The aim is to cater to the different learning needs and styles of children to help them reach their full academic potential.
